How to Reserve Your Baby’s First Photo Session

Welcoming a new baby is beautiful… and unpredictable.

We know due dates are just estimates, so our newborn booking process is designed to be flexible and stress-free.

Here’s exactly how it works:

Step 1: Reserve Your Spot Before Baby Arrives

We recommend booking during your second or third trimester.

To secure your newborn session:

• Choose a tentative date 5 days after your due date
• Pay the session fee to reserve your spot
• Complete the newborn questionnaire

This temporary date simply holds your place on our calendar.

Step 2: Baby Arrives

Once your baby is born and you receive your hospital discharge date:

• Text or call us
• We’ll adjust your session to the perfect day

We photograph newborns between 5–14 days old for those sleepy, curled-up poses.

Step 3: Come Relax in the Studio

Your session takes place in our New Albany studio in a warm, calm environment designed specifically for newborn comfort.

We guide you every step of the way.

Newborn Portrait Session FAQ

  • The best time to book is during your second or third trimester. We limit the number of newborn sessions we accept each month to ensure flexibility after babies arrive.

    At Always Images Photography newborns are photographed between 5-14 days.

  • For classic sleepy newborn portraits, the ideal window is 5–14 days after birth.

    We can still photograph babies older than 14 days, but posing may be more relaxed and awake.

  • That’s completely normal.

    Your tentative date simply holds your place. Once baby arrives, we’ll adjust the session date based on your delivery and discharge timing.

    We will stay in touch.

  • Simple is best.

    We recommend:
    • A neutral onesie
    • A zip-up sleeper for easy changing
    • Avoid tight socks or clothing before the session (it leaves marks)

    We will provide styling guidance prior to your session. Wraps are included in the session.

  • We suggest:
    • Soft neutrals (cream, beige, light gray, muted pastels)
    • Avoid busy patterns or logos
    • Keep it simple and timeless

    After booking, you’ll receive a style guide to help you prepare.

  • Yes. We use simple, timeless wraps and minimal props to keep the focus on your baby.

    We do not provide wardrobe for parents.

  • Newborn sessions typically last 60–90 minutes to allow time for feeding, soothing, and cuddling.

    We move at baby’s pace.

  • Totally normal.

    We allow time for feeding, changing, and soothing. Some of the sweetest images happen in between moments.

  • Our studio is located in New Albany, Indiana, serving families throughout Southern Indiana and the Louisville, Kentucky area.
